Yeah, that number caught our attention as well. That number delivers a meaningful impact for our Planet. That number is something we are extremely proud of.
Every year in May we look forward to re-certifying our annual giving with 1% For The Planet and are honored to maintain our longstanding membership. 1% For The Planet is a highly respected and industry-leading environmental giving network that requires member organizations (like us) to donate, at a minimum, 1% of their top-line annual sales to approved environmental organizations that are on the front lines of protecting, conserving and advocating for a more sustainable future for both people and the planet.
As we calculated and closed our 2023 giving totals, we opened up a new level of giving to the tune of over a quarter of a million dollars donated since our inception. We joined 1% For The Planet in 2017 and since that time have given over $161k through the organization, but giving back has been part of our brand DNA since we were founded in 2010, and before we joined the network had already built a great community of give back partners to the tune of over $100K which brings our lifetime environmental giving to over $250,000.
Looking for some real-world examples of how these dollars and in-person efforts impact our environment in a practical way? In addition to our eco-friendly products, our HyperLocalTM Supply Chains, and our year-round intentional efforts to approach the planet over profits, we’ve included a few recent initiatives that we’ve proudly supported over the past month alone.

Earth Month Fundraiser:
Throughout April, Earth Month, we supported 12 “boots on the ground” environmental non-profits across the country during our Earth Month Fundraising Campaign. We created and managed a Zero Waste Online Store for each organization and leveraged our “print-on-demand” capabilities to sell limited edition designs that put branded gear on the backs of their supporters and cash into the organization’s bank accounts … all while further reducing our environmental impact by eliminating excess and unused inventory.
The Conservation Alliance:
In addition to being an annual member of The Conservation Alliance, we also participated in TCA’s recent #WeKeepItWild campaign alongside other environmentally focused companies (Backpacker’s Pantry, La Sportiva, Nemo Equipment, Trail Butter, Jack Wolfskin, Gu Energy Labs, UBCO, Nomadix, GSI Outdoors, Kahtoola, Fox River, Topo Athletic, Pistil, Sea To Summit, Active Skin Repair and Outdoor Technology) to donate 5% of sales during Earth Week to their ongoing efforts to expand and add to our country’s National Monument portfolio from coast to coast.
The Arbor Day Foundation:
Similarly, we are proud to continue our ongoing relationship with The Arbor Day Foundation and are proactively working with them to protect and reforest two of their “Reforestation Priority Areas” that are near and dear to our hearts in the American Southeast (home to our US Supply Chain) and Central America and the Caribbean (Home to our Central American Supply Chain).

Since day one, Recover has been taking a holistic approach to our products, our process and our business. It’s not enough to slap a “recycled” logo on packaging or loosely use the word “sustainable” in marketing efforts. It starts with meaningful action and putting your money where your mouth is. It continues with a constant and authentic pursuit to do better.
We’re pretty proud of the impact we’ve been able to have on our planet since 2010. As a conscious consumer, you can be proud to know that your Recover apparel and gear is helping to deliver on our mission of “Helping the Earth RECOVER”!
